The Arizona Silent Service Memorial Reaches it’s Goal

With the year ending 31 December 2018, the Arizona Silent Service Memorial (ASSM) achieved a major milestone. We reached our fundraising goal of $100,000, the amount necessary to begin construction.

Not only did we reach our goal, but surpassed it by raising $110,000. This was made possible with the help of two major contributors; CACI International Inc. of Arlington, VA and Dillon’s KC BBQ in Glendale, AZ.

CACI International Inc. is an American multinational professional services and information technology company headquartered in Arlington, VA. They provide a wide range of services to many branches of the federal government including defense, homeland security, intelligence and healthcare. CACI is a member of the Fortune 1000 Largest Companies.

Dillon’s KC BBQ is a locally owned and operated restaurant group in the greater Phoenix area. They opened their first location in 1999 and have since grown to four locations. (Peoria (2), Litchfield Park (1) and Glendale (1)). George Valverde, Owner has been an advocate of veterans and veteran’s organizations for the past twenty years. In cooperation with with a local company, Charity Benefits Unlimited, the four Dillon’s KC BBQ locations host silent auctions featuring historical memorbilia and items supplied sports and entertainment celebrities. 100% of all silent auction proceeds are given to veterans organizations and projects.

Having reached our fundraising goal, we are now ready to move on to our next phase which is construction and ultimately a dedication ceremony in the not too distant future. In the meantime, we will continue our fundraising effort to subsidize construction costs and have funds available for any unforeseen expenses.

Thank you all for your support, this could not have been accomlished without the support of our shipmates, both national and international. I will be eternally grateful.
